I have a ticket for someone who wants to join me (free) at either of the two speaking appearances described below at Sixth & I St. in DC. Let me know by email or in the Comments section.
Thursday, Jan. 31, 7 PM – Al Gore
Former VP and winner of the 2008 Nobel Peace Prize will discuss his about to be released book The Future: Six Drivers of Global Change.
E.O.Wilson, Harvard University and twice winner of the Pulitzer Prize has said about the new book:
This is a great book. From political policy and economics to science and the most thorny ethical issues, Al Gore has stated the human condition and the issues we face forthrightly, fearlessly, and in easily understood language—and has said what must be done. I asked myself halfway through who else could have written a book of this magnitude. The only answer I could imagine was Jefferson.
Wednesday, February 6, 7 PM – Susan Cain
Cain will discuss her book Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking.
Quiet was an Amazon Best Book of the Month in January 2012, was cited as a favorite book of the year by several folks on the MillersTime Most Enjoyed Reads of 2012, and was overwhelmingly named the best nonfiction book of the year on one list I saw (Goodreads?).
If you don’t know much or anything about Cain, you might be interested in this link to a TED talk she gave in March of this year. It has been seen by almost three and a half million people.
