Opening Day is approaching, and it’s time once again for the annual MillersTime Baseball Contests.
As always, bold predictions are encouraged. The more confident you are, the more likely the baseball gods will prove you wrong.
Contest# 1:
As always, for the “Homers” – choose the team you ‘know’ the most about and wisely or foolishly predict:
- Name the team
- What will their season record be?
- Will they make the playoffs, and if so, how far will they go.
- What will be the reason for how well or how poorly they’ll do this year? Specifics!
Contest# 2:
With MLB introducing the ABS (“robo-umpire”) challenge system this season, how will that affect the 25/26 season? Specifics!
Contest# 3: Yes/No
- Will any pitcher win 20 games??
- Will anyone hit more than 61 home runs?
- Will the National League win the All-Star game again?
- Will any team win more than 100 games?
- Will any team lose more than 100 games?
- Will any pitcher throw a no-hitter?
Contest #4: Playoffs
- Which four teams will reach the League Championship Series?
- Which two teams will go to the WS
- Which team will win the WS?
- How many games will the WS go?
- Specific reason(s) the winner wins? (You’ll be disqualified in you say because they win four games.)
Contest #5: Prediction
Make ONE bold prediction about the 2026 season. Winner will be chosen by a vote of the contestants.
Prizes for the winners: Either one of Joe Posnanski’s wonderful books on baseball or attending an MLB game with me in DC (alternatively, I will try to join you at a game of your choice if possible). I’ll buy the tickets. Winner can buy the victuals.
SUBMISSIONS due by 6 PM March 25
